Jane Wang, a Guzheng teacher, is based in the Winchester and Southampton area.
She is a conservatory-trained musician from Taiwan, holding a bachelor's degree in Music Education with a primary specialist in the Guzheng and a secondary focus on Piano. Jane studied Guzheng under the tutelage of renowned artists Pei-Hsuan Yang and Yi-Yu Chen, establishing a rigorous foundation in classical techniques and traditional repertoire. To further her exploration of acoustic spaces and digital sound, she also earned a Master’s degree in Music Technology from the University of York.Curriculum & Repertoire
Lessons typically build on standard grading repertoire and technical etudes, with a strong emphasis on foundational fingerings and proper hand posture. Contemporary and popular Guzheng pieces are also introduced based on individual student interests and preferences.Teaching Methodology: Switching Systems
Jane adapts her approach based on the instrument and the student’s goals. In Guzheng lessons, she starts with numbered musical notation (Movable-Solfege) for an intuitive introduction, later incorporating standard staff notation and Western music theory at advanced levels to help students transition into Western music. For piano and Western classical training, she uses Fixed-Solfege to strengthen the cognitive connection between internal pitch audiation and physical execution. This training allows her to switch between both systems depending on the lesson.Now based in Kings Worthy, Winchester, Jane’s personal musical journey evolved further as her children began studying the cello and violin. Drawn to the deep, resonant voice of the string family, she picked up the viola in 2024 and embarked on a new chapter, currently(2026) working towards Grade 7. This personal immersion in Western string technique has profoundly enriched her pedagogical approach, allowing her to understand the physical and mental challenges of string playing from the ground up.Jane provides structured, insightful guidance tailored to both children and adults, fostering true musical literacy alongside technical precision.Jane Wang 來自台灣，接受過扎實的正統音樂院訓練，擁有音樂教育學士學位，主修古箏，師承楊佩璇、陳伊瑜老師，並副修鋼琴（ABRSM Grade 8）。隨後，她前往約克大學（University of York）深造，獲得音樂科技碩士學位，進一步將音樂觸角延伸至聲音物理與數位音訊領域。課程內容與曲目
教學基本自考級曲目與練習曲出發，高度專注於指法基本功與正確手形的建立。此外，亦會根據學生的個人喜好與意願，彈性融入流行曲目的教學。教學方法：雙軌體系轉換
根據課程需求，在東西方教學法之間轉換。教授古箏時，初期以簡譜（首調唱名法）引導學生直覺入門，程度提升後則帶入五線譜與西樂理論，方便學生未來銜接西方音樂。在鋼琴等西樂教學中，則採用固定調唱名法（Fixed-Solfege），藉此加強大腦內部聽覺與手指彈奏之間的連結。學生不再只是機械式地撥弦或按鍵，而是先在腦海中形成精準的音高與結構認知，再透過樂器發聲。目前定居於溫徹斯特（Winchester）歷史悠久的 Kings Worthy。在陪伴孩子們學習大提琴與小提琴的過程中，她重新審視了自己與弦樂的連結。2024 年，她被中提琴那溫潤、深沉且充滿靈魂的音色所吸引，正式開啟了中提琴的修煉旅程，目前(2026)已進入七級準備階段。這段親自攻克西方弦樂技術的經歷，極大地反哺了她的教學思維，使她能以最前線的視角，體會學生在面對弦樂器時的身體協調與心理挑戰。Jane 為成人與兒童提供結構清晰的專業指導，致力於在雕琢技術的同時，也幫學生建立起受用終身的音樂視讀與感悟能力。

Due to the logistical challenges of transporting the Guzheng, my home studio is fully equipped with multiple instruments for student use and teaching demonstrations—meaning students do not need to bring or transport their own instruments to lessons. To maintain instructional quality, all lessons are studio-based. Please note that home visits and travel tuition are no longer offered.鑒於古箏體積龐大且搬運不便，我的家庭工作室已備有數台專業古箏，供學生上課彈奏與教學示範使用，學生完全無需自行攜帶或搬運樂器前來。為確保教學品質，所有課程均固定於工作室內進行，目前已全面停止到府（外派家教）授課。
